AI living room design
AI living room design that keeps your living room recognizable
The living room is where most people start: it's the room you see every day, and the one where a new sofa, a rug or a different wall color changes the most. Tigmi redesigns a photo of your living room, furnished or completely empty, in the style you pick. The windows, the doors, the fireplace and the shape of the room stay as they are, so what you compare is the furniture and the mood, not two different rooms.

Before: the photoTigmi redesigns a living room from one photo in a couple of minutes: new furniture, rug, lighting, wall color, curtains and styling, with the windows, doors, fireplace and room shape kept. It works on a furnished room and on an empty one, and it's a picture to choose a direction, not a furniture plan to scale.
Four real living rooms, redesigned with Tigmi
Two furnished living rooms and two empty ones, each photographed for real and then redesigned. The windows, the doors and the light are the same in both images; the furniture, the colors and the styling are new.

After: TigmiA wood-paneled living room with a beamed ceiling and dark leather sofas, redesigned in Mid-Century Modern. The beams, the post, the sliding doors and even the air conditioner stayed; the sofas, rug and lighting are new, and the two ceiling fans became brass pendants.

After: TigmiAn empty apartment living room with an oak floor, a radiator and a balcony door, furnished in Japandi Calm: a low sectional, a walnut sideboard, a paper floor lamp and a wool rug. The windows, the radiator and the door to the balcony are exactly where they were.

After: TigmiAn empty living room with a bay window, an arched opening and a front door, staged in Transitional Luxe with a cream sofa, two armchairs and a marble coffee table. The bay window, the arch, the steps and the crown molding are all kept; the framing moved slightly toward the left wall.

After: TigmiA retro living room with orange curtains, a wood TV cabinet and green armchairs, redesigned in Artisanal Boho. It's also a lesson in what a photo shows: the curtains hid the walls, so the AI imagined the windows behind them. If your photo hides the architecture, open the curtains or check the result against the real room.

What to expect from the redesign
What Tigmi changes
- All the furniture: sofa, armchairs, coffee table, media unit, shelving and side tables.
- The rug, curtains, cushions and throws, and the color of the walls.
- Lighting: floor lamps, pendants and table lamps, chosen to suit the style.
- Art, plants, books and objects, styled the way a magazine shoot would style them.
What stays
- The windows, doors and fireplace, with their frames and surrounds (Room Lock, on paid plans).
- The shape of the room, the ceiling height and the camera angle of your photo.
- Daylight comes from where your windows are, so the redesign is lit like your room.
Where it falls short
- The furniture is drawn to look right, not to scale: a sofa that fits in the image may not fit your wall. Measure before you buy.
- The AI replaces everything by default. To keep your own sofa or armchair, add a photo of it (up to three pieces) and Tigmi places it in the design.
- In an empty room with few clues, such as one bare corner, the AI decides alone where the seating goes. A wider photo gives it the doors and windows to plan around.
- When curtains or furniture hide the walls, the AI has to guess what's behind them, and it may draw windows where your photo shows only curtains. Open them, or check the result against the real room.
How to take the photo
01
Shoot from a corner, toward the windows' side
A diagonal view from one corner shows two walls, the floor and where the light comes from. Avoid shooting straight into the window: the room goes dark.
02
Show the whole floor
The AI plans the seating around the floor it can see. Step back until the rug area, the sofa wall and at least one doorway are in the frame.
03
Leave what you'll keep in place
If the sofa stays, keep it in the photo and add its picture as one of your own pieces, so the new design is built around it.
04
Empty rooms need daylight
An empty room with white walls can look flat. Shoot in daylight with the curtains open, so the AI sees the floor, the corners and the light.
Numbers to check before you buy
Furniture guides agree on a few proportions that make a living room work. They're rules of thumb rather than standards, but they're the first things to check when a redesign makes you want a new sofa or coffee table.
| Sofa to coffee table | about 14–18 in (35–45 cm) [1] |
|---|---|
| Coffee table length | about two-thirds of the sofa's length [1] |
| Coffee table height | about 2–4 in (5–10 cm) lower than the sofa seat [1] |
| TV viewing distance | so the screen fills about 30° of your view: about 7.5 ft (2.3 m) for a 55-inch TV, 8.8 ft (2.7 m) for a 65-inch [2] |
A redesign is a picture, not a plan: it isn't to scale. Check these against your own measurements.
Styles that work well here
Mid-Century Modern
Low wood furniture, tapered legs and warm leather. It suits rooms with wood ceilings or large windows, and dated sofas are the easiest thing to replace.
Japandi Calm
Low seating, linen, light wood and few objects: the calmest result in an empty or small living room.
Artisanal Boho
Rattan, layered rugs, plants and warm color. A good way to bring life to a beige room without painting it.
Transitional Luxe
Classic shapes with clean lines and soft neutrals. Works in large rooms with bay windows or moldings.
Questions people ask
Can AI redesign my living room?
Yes. Upload a photo, choose one of 16 styles and add notes if you want ("keep the green sofa", "no TV on the wall"). Tigmi replaces the furniture, rug, lighting, colors and styling, and keeps the windows, doors, fireplace and room shape, in a couple of minutes.
Does it work on an empty living room?
Yes, that's virtual staging: Tigmi furnishes the empty room in the style you choose. Two of the examples on this page started empty. It's the same tool estate agents use to show what an empty listing could look like.
Can I keep my own sofa?
Yes. Add a clear photo of it, ideally on a plain background, as one of up to three pieces of your own, and Tigmi places it in the design. The AI redraws it, so small details can differ from the original.
Can I buy the furniture I see in the redesign?
The pieces in the image are generated, so they aren't products. Shop the Look searches real retailers in your country for similar ones, and the design plan PDF lists every piece with its approximate size. Check the exact dimensions on the retailer's page before you order.
Is it free?
Tigmi gives 3 designs a month for free, in 1K with a small watermark. Paid plans start at $14 a month with 2K images, no watermark and Room Lock, plus more views of the same design and a 360° view.
